A balloon in a box is basically what it says. Balloon companies inflate a balloon
(normally a foil balloon) with helium and tie it to a ribbon which is then tied
to a weight. The weight and balloon are then placed inside a box which is normally
lined with tissue paper. The box is sealed and the box is then delivered to
the recipient.
Most companies allow you to add a message to your order which is then attached
to the ribbon or the weight.
The great thing about a balloon in a box is when it arrives most recipient's
think it is empty. I remember we sent a balloon in a box on behalf of a customer,
upon receiving the gift, the recipient put it in a cupboard because they thought
somebody was playing a joke on them by sending an empty box.
Believe it or not, the type of box the balloon arrives in can ruin the surprise.
Some balloon companies use a standard "candy striped" box available from balloon
wholesalers. The problem with these boxes is that the markings on the box can
easily give the contents of the box away.
